If you decide to go with us, here's how the process works:
  1. Take a look around at this site. Check out our projects and learn more from the links we offer and as much of your own research as you'd like.

Then send us a note or drop us a line. Feel free to include ideas, visions, notions, whims, whatever is motivating you to consider a treehouse. If you'd like to send pictures or drawings, go right ahead. If you'd rather just explore it all in conversation, that's fine too. Let me know the best way to reach you, and we'll start from there.

Oh, in case you're wondering, there's no fee for dreaming.

  2. If after talking and learning more you're still interested in a treehouse of your own, we'll set up a time for me to come out for a visit. Together we'll continue the conversation, and I'll take a look at your site to see where the trees want to take us.

  3. Unless you're further away than I can drive and return in a day, there's still no fee and no obligation.

  4. From here we can exchange a few early sketches, and see if we can find a concept that fits for everyone.

  5. Still, no fees.

  6. If you decide to go forward from here, we get down to a little business. We'll call in an ISA certified arborist and do an inspection together. The arborist will examine the tree and the surrounding site for overall health, and help us develop the best strategy for working with the tree to make your dream a reality.

  7. At this point your cost are only the actual expense of the arborist and the cost of my travel back to the site. Beyond that, still no obligations.

  8. By now we have a good idea of the site, the tree's health, your vision and our relationship. If you want to go forward from here, it's time to design your future treehouse. We'll talk some more about details - from mood and feel to boards and siding -- and we'll agree on a fee for precise site mapping and design work, up to and including full architectural renderings of the planned treehouse. That fee never changes, unless you decide you wants to add a hot tub or heliport. We'll also examine local property restrictions that might be in place, from covenants to zoning regulations, and make sure to factor them into the project as well.

  9. Again, still no obligations. If you're happy with what you see, we move forward from here.

  10. Now it's time for Charley. We'll take our drawings, site measurements, photos, weather data and lots of other information and forward them to Charles Greenwood. He's one of the top treehouse engineers in the world, and it's his input that separates the treehouse you'll enjoy 15 years from now from the one that will tumble to the earth next spring. Charley's fees vary based upon the complexity of the treehouse and the level of documentation local authorities demand. It may take Charley a few weeks to work his magic, but we'll all sleep better in the end.

  11. It's decision time. We have a dream, an arborist's bill of health, some detailed drawings and recommendations from the nation's leading treehouse engineer. By now, we're likely becoming friends as well. Treehouses do that.

  12. If you want to go forward, I'll generate a detailed project proposal for your review. Materials, methods, time and more will be broken down and collected into a final construction plan and total project price. Just like before, this price never changes - unless you do add that heliport or your landscaper cuts down the tree and we have to start over. Even if things take a little longer than planned - and they sometimes do when unforeseeable challenges force a choice between doing it right and doing it right now - the bottom line remains the same.

If you're comfortable, we sign the contract. Once a deposit is made, typically half the overall estimate, work is scheduled as soon as possible. Final payment is made when we agree that your dream treehouse is all done.

Simple, straightforward and honest. It's the best way to design treehouses, and the best way to do business.

So, if the joy and peace of a tree is where you'd like to be, we'd love to help you get there.
